Duck Golf Association
DGA News – May 17, 2025
Avalon
As usual, Avalon proved to be a challenge for the flock. Only one Duck managed to break net par for the tournament. Tyler Roush flew to a net 70, giving him a two-stroke margin over runner-up Karlo Thornvig in the Dewey division. Jim Naeve managed a net par round, for a three-stroke edge over Greg Lesnar and Ron Gaudette in the Louies. And what happened to the Hueys?! Bob Anderson paddled to a net 74, which game him a four-stroke win over Jerome Gotz.
The team competitions were not close. In the low-handicap Wood Ducks flight, the team of Greg Lesnar, Leif Sorensen, Thomas Larsen and Karlo Thornvig romped to a seven stroke blowout of Tim Borba, Jeff Braden, Jim Hansen and Thomas Edgar (who were six strokes ahead of the third-place team). In the high-handicap Teals flight, it was a little bit closer. Tyler Roush, Kyle Bissell, Michael Wu and Jeffrey Hergert had a three-stroke edge over Ted Binder, John Liston, Ron Gaudette and Mike Irons.
Dan Whiting topped the skins game in the Huey division, Ward Groesbeck took the prize in the Deweys, and John Smith topped the Louies. Big winners in the Scrooge competition were Leif Sorensen, Jim Naeve and Chuck Bauman.
