Duck Golf Association
Invitation to the DGA 2025 Season
Hey kids, it’s time to sign up for another season of Duck golf! We’ll be playing a lot of your old favorites this season. We have a good balance of north and south courses. For this year’s Migratory, we are going back down to Bend, Oregon to play Eagle Crest, Widgi Creek and Lost Tracks. Rumor has it that many Ducks are going to go early and/or stay late to sneak in some golf at other courses on the way there or back. We will wrap up the season with a two-Duck scramble at Eagles Pride at Fort Lewis. Our complete schedule is on our website, so mark your calendars now. Entry forms for the 2025 season are now on our website; they are due by March 8. Remember, if you have Duck Bucks in the Nestegg left over from last season, you can deduct that amount from your 2025 entry fee. Check the ‘Available’ column to see if you have a balance. Also, if you are prepaying for the season, but know that you will be missing one or more tournaments, you can deduct the cost of those tournaments from the Prepay total before you write your check
One other thing: take a look at the DGA Rules. In general, we play by the USGA Rules of Golf, but we have a few exceptions that can save you strokes (Modified Lost Ball, Ugly Duck, etc.), so make sure you know the rules.
Opening Day Scramble
We kick off the 2025 season at Oakbrook in Lakewood. The format of this tournament is four-Duck scramble. The first tee time is at 11:06 AM. You must use at least three tee shots from each team member. Entry forms are now on our website and are due by March 16, so please get them in now.
Tee It Forward
Once again, we are offering the Tee It Forward option for the flock. As a reminder, here’s how it works. If your age plus your handicap index add up to 85 or more, you have the option of choosing to play from the tees just forward of the regular tees that the rest of the flock is playing. For example, if you are 60 years old and have a 25 handicap, you can elect to play the forward tees. A few notes on the new rule:
· For calculating your “Rule of 85” number, we will use your handicap index as of April 1 and your age as of your birthday this year.
· This is a one-time, beginning of the season choice, i.e. you don’t get to decide for each tournament. However, we will give you one mulligan – if you decide after a tournament or two that you made the wrong choice, you can switch.
· You won’t get the same number of strokes if you play the forward tees. Your course handicap will be calculated based on the slope and course rating of the tees you use, so you will almost always get fewer strokes when playing the forward tees. The difference will depend on how much lower the slope and rating are for the forward tees; in some cases it might only be a stroke or two, in others it could be more like five or six strokes.
· We will not automatically assign anyone to the forward tees. You must tell Greg if you are choosing to play it forward, otherwise we’ll assume you are playing the regular tees. So even if you elected TIF last year, you must tell Greg if you want to do it again this year.
If you have any questions about the TIF option, please contact any of the DGA Officers with your questions. We’ll be happy to confuse you even more.
Post Play
As of March 1, we will be in the posting period, so anytime you play a round outside of the DGA tournaments, you’ll need to post your score. You can either post at the course, post via the GHIN website, the GHIN app, or turn your scorecards in at the next DGA tournament. And don’t forget, if you’re lucky enough to play before March 1 somewhere warm and sunny (i.e. that is already in its posting period), you need to post those scores, too.
